ABOUT US

Sisters Aashika & Tanishaa Cunha based in Mumbai chanced upon the art of mosaic purely for fun. They now create commissions for some of the most prominent families in India. They transform the craft of mosaic into unique artworks. They use vibrant hand-cut vitreous tiles, turning them around to add texture and vitality. Their prized work, amongst many national & international projects is a 252 sq ft mosaic mural at the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and two portraits of Sheikh Zayed in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Make A Wish Foundation; and most recently, an elephant 'Mara' which was done for Elephant Parade.

Currently, Aashika works at the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation at the CSMVS and has completed her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, from Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore in 2012. Tanishaa Cunha is the creative director at Plane Crazy Studios and has completed her Bachelor's degree in Design from Goldsmiths College, London in 2018.

OUR PROCESS

We work on one mosaic at a time; but we do plan and design the next one while the first mosaic is ongoing so we are ready to start the next one immediately after.

A very important part is the actual design of the mosaic; so a big advantage of working together is having double the creativity and viewpoints.

Step 1

The client contacts us and gives us a reference or theme to work with.

Step 2

We design it digitally and send you options until we perfect it.

Step 3

Once the design is approved, we draw out the design on a cement board.

Step 4

The tiles that are imported from Italy, first have to be washed and hand-cut individually.

Step 5

The actual mosaic work begins.

Step 6

Process pictures are sent to the client while the work is in progress.
